Unit Director

Hi!  Glad to welcome you to this uneventful area of the website!  Since you made it this far, I’ll give you all the information you could ever need to know about me.  My name is Greg Waszak and I’m the Unit Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Shore. I started in March of 2017 and I’m very pleased to have rediscovered my profession and true calling in life here at the club.  Before college, I worked at the Eden Boys and Girls club when it first opened.   Serving as first a teen leader and eventually site coordinator at the satellite location in North Collins, I discovered my passion for working with youth and service to the community.  From there, I went on studied to become a teacher at SUNY College at Brockport.  I couldn’t be happier to be back with the Boys and Girls Club and look forward to meeting each one of you at our various community outreach events and fundraisers.  I am amazed at how great everyone works together for the different events we host along with the tremendous staff at the club and the fantastic, overworked board of directors at the Boys and Girls Club of Eden – Lake Shore.

Over the past few months, I can’t help but notice and acknowledge that YOU are one who makes the difference here at our club.  Without the support of this great community, the club would not be possible.  Being a service to the community, as a non-profit, we cannot function without the support of each and every one of you.  Clearly, all of the success this club has enjoyed since opening is without a doubt because of a strong community.

My philosophy with children is giving them an opportunity make good choices and strive for what they can achieve in life.  Anything worth having takes effort to get.   At this important stage of a childs’ development, they are beginning to tell right from wrong and need strong guidance to make good choices.  Lets face it, you don’t have to teach your child how to be bad, they seem to figure that out all by themselves..  It takes a community to raise a child and that’s what we have right here, community.  These children are our future and we have a chance to make a lasting impact on them now.  If we miss this opportunity, it could be too late.  Ask me how we can work together to strengthen our communities and in turn, you will see the results of your time and effort when and where it counts the most.

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9:6

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 716-926-2119 or bgc@lscsd.org if you have any questions or I can be of assistance to you in any way.
